The crowd of 28586 turning up at
Ramblers Stadion today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Wisi Schenk was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Konstantīns Pļaviņš and
Patrik Olsson.
MacIntosch decided to use a 5-2-3 set up.
Starters: Mach - Tuomola, Dalemans, Agronomenko, Pagniello, Kieszkowski - Mordasas, Monard - Benischke, Heumann, Boeckmann.
Razorbacks started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Cami - Börönte, Vidosavljević, Roccato - Cicerone, Larsson, Takamura, Zárate, Stresow - Schenderling, Ramírez.
MacIntosch were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
A. Börönte came close to putting the visiting team one up 13 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
H. Mach managed to tip the ball to a corner.
MacIntosch mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 14 minutes, but
B. Benischke was unable to convert from short range.
Razorbacks's
A. Roccato managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 15 minutes. 0 - 1.
A. Cicerone came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
H. Mach but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
J. Larsson left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 44 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
H. Schiner was the replacement.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
Razorbacks claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.
A. Börönte wanted to play on, but the Razorbacks coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by
S. Juhl Nielsen.
A. Cicerone made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle 56 minutes into the match.
L. Schenderling bravely attempted to execute a diving header and the ball was met firmly with his forehead for Razorbacks. 0 - 2.
The visitors'
A. Roccato took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 57 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Razorbacks.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Razorbacks lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
62 minutes into the game, Razorbacks were awarded a penalty and
P. Stresow was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 4 rolling the ball in by the right post.
Razorbacks's
H. Schiner made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 68 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
After 70 minutes, MacIntosch used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Razorbacks coach let
V. Eusebi replace
P. Stresow after 70 minutes.
After 70 minutes MacIntosch tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately,
R. Pagniello's shot sailed wide after his break down the right.
Razorbacks enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.
MacIntosch's top performer was clearly
B. Benischke.
On the other hand,
R. Kieszkowski's play was disheartening.
Most important Razorbacks player was
L. Schenderling.
S. Juhl Nielsen on the other hand, had a terrible day.
