previous 7/10 next 9/10  Valencia_08 1 - 4 Pinganillo (392648120)

Clear skies welcomed the 34201 spectators who had made their way to Valencia Park. Jesús Donat was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Karl Schmidi and Barry Capella. A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Valencia_08. The following players took the field: Ränzelgasse - Schrefl, Alberzoni, Mereu, Piškor - Parenza, Calzadilla, Salaro - Kasparsons, Mironenko, Amstutz.

Pinganillo decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Ramírez - Cobarrubias, Rodríguez, Herford - Domínguez, Eliyahu, Cabral, Stoyanov, Maggio - Hamdan, Espregueira.

Valencia_08 seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Pinganillo's B. Espregueira excelled in some fine tricks that completely confused V. Calzadilla - and the finish was no less spectacular - 0 - 1! Valencia_08 tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play. After 22 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave G. Herford a chance to increase the lead for Pinganillo, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. It was obvious that team Valencia_08 had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Valencia_08 refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle, E. Alberzoni managed to slip the ball home for 1 - 2. 1 - 2 was the score after the first half. Pinganillo claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

With 55 minutes played, B. Eliyahu nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The home crowd was not impressed when H. Cobarrubias came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 60 minutes. Pinganillo were now up 1 - 3. 68 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 4 as B. Eliyahu finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Confident in their lead, Pinganillo's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Valencia_08's D. Mironenko was shown a yellow card after 71 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Pinganillo had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

Most important Valencia_08 player was R. Amstutz. On the other hand, R. Ränzelgasse's play was disheartening. The most dominating Pinganillo player was without a doubt I. Hamdan. M. Maggio turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 4.
