Dark skies made the crowd of 29300 at Tapien Colliseum a little nervous, but the rain held off. Bengt-Åke Sederberg was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Werner Keessen and Niels Kværndrup. A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Tapien. Doria almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Tapien's F. Mínguez Tahona tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Halftime score was 0 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Salteriocf, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

After 60 minutes, the Salteriocf coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving T. Núñez off the field. P. Ardiles took his place. J. Bauche would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. A. Huzayel entered the game for Salteriocf as the match clock showed 70 minutes. P. Ardiles had a good opportunity to give Salteriocf the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. 76 minutes into the game Tapien managed a counterattack, but U. Tulstrup took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. The guests almost went up by a goal after 80 minutes when P. Ardiles came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. Salteriocf had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

With the scores being level after 90 minutes, the match went into extra time. After 96 minutes of play, the free-spirited A. Tvarovský decided to go for goal as he struck the ball from the corner of the pitch. The ball hit a defender in the face and bounced out of play. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 102 minutes allowed E. Peinado to score for Salteriocf. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. With that Salteriocf had won the game in extra time. Tapien's top performer was clearly Ş. Kerim. On the other hand, P. Murillo's play was disheartening. J. Doria performed admirably for Salteriocf. T. Záborský turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 1.
