The 772 fans in attendance at Downtown were roasting in the hot sun. Jobst Wiechern was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jobias Eijkenaar and Umberto Ringhio. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for United. J. Candries got left behind when O.U.L's T. Robert made a sudden run forward after 10 minutes, finishing off with a neat strike. 1 - 0! N. Bóbr sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from U. Sammaciccia after 13 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 0. At this point, it was obvious that the players of O.U.L lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Some things can only be learned through experience, and G. Starostin should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting O.U.L a goal with 39 minutes of the match played. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. O.U.L enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

O.U.L's G. Beeuwsaert finished emphatically to make the score 3 -0 after 56 minutes, after the enigmatic U. Sammaciccia pulled a delightful long pass from his box of tricks to bypass the defence. After 67 minutes, United were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. E. Hermans did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. United almost scored after a counterattack 72 minutes into the match, but G. Starostin took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.

O.U.L's best player was E. Ariztoi. G. Beeuwsaert was a disappointment, however. S. Driutti performed admirably for United. B. Tamsamani turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
