Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 23124 at Jiumate de sută în coz today. Asko Torniainen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Aşan Harbiye and Stefan Ghitã. The derby had been the talk of Chişinău all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Unisport-Auto. The following players took the field: Brăila - Grozavu, Riganò, Scrobu, Panchevici - Rusu, Malevici, Raneţchi, Serio - Mahno, Prang.

V.I.V.A.S had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Linding - Petriello, Smith, González Carvajal - Taheri, van Esschoten, Gorincioi, Lazarin, Vlas - Spadaro, Soós.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Unisport-Auto. V.I.V.A.S demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. V.I.V.A.S's A. Gorincioi managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 21 minutes. 0 - 1. 27 minutes in, Unisport-Auto's G. Mahno received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. V.I.V.A.S's S. Petriello went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. V.I.V.A.S's A. Gorincioi was shown a yellow card after 30 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, L. Soós would have put V.I.V.A.S up another goal 31 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. After 35 minutes, the defensive line of Unisport-Auto created a counterattack through the middle that gave C. Riganò a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. V.I.V.A.S enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

With 69 minutes played, V.I.V.A.S put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was S. van Esschoten. V.I.V.A.S's L. González Carvajal made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 72 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. With 73 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Unisport-Auto resulted in a counterattack that set V. Rusu free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Unisport-Auto had a brilliant opportunity to reply as V. Rusu received a high ball from the right, striking the ball in the air. Only A. Linding's reflexes saved him. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by V.I.V.A.S, with 55 percent of the ball.

Most important Unisport-Auto player was A. Brăila. C. Riganò was a disappointment, however. V.I.V.A.S's top performer was clearly L. Soós. However, S. van Esschoten made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 2.
