previous 9/10 next 1/10  Bogota 0 - 1 SPQR (392707324)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 41424 to Club Real Bogota FC. Andrea Romito was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Lars Bezuijen and Lynn Arroyo. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Bogota. They fielded: Bonhome - Niţu, Carta, Bodnár - Lèze, Masoli, Stříhavka, Aversa, Ñañez - Teletina, Scarlata.

SPQR started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. The following players took the field: Rongen - Grass, Moncayo - Lewdahl, Kłos, Arrondo, Bocovaz, Jáuregui - Martinez, Balbás, Pavone.

Bogota could have put themselves ahead after 39 minutes but M. Ñañez missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. Coming in from the right, Bogota had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 41 minutes, but O. Teletina's attempt to finish was easily stopped. 42 minutes into the match Bogota's I. Niţu viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. 44 minutes in, Bogota's T. Bodnár received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. Bogota had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

H. Jáuregui didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. The sun seemed to put M. Lèze in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long. Slack defending gave Bogota a chance to take the lead with 76 minutes played, but M. Ñañez's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. As the 85 minute mark approached, the SPQR coach decided it was time for a substitution. A. Kłos reluctantly made way for L. Guzmán Aroca on the pitch. Bogota claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. Bogota had a chance to take the lead after M. Lèze's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 94 minutes. The counterattacks of SPQR were deadly and 95 minutes into the game, I. Arrondo received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 0 - 1. This put an end to extra time, making SPQR the winners. Most important Bogota player was D. Masoli. A. Carta on the other hand, had a terrible day. K. Rongen performed admirably for SPQR. On the other hand, G. Bocovaz's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 1.
