Jotunheim 0 - 6 North
(392708092)

28-06-2012 01.00
18500 spectators arrived at
The Wolfdales, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Sampsa Heikkinen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Damien Vacheron and
Tiziano Benazzato.
Jotunheim tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination.
Starters: Stamper - Cuestas, Mattingly, Magnani, Tøndel, Hostrup - Björkell, Van De Neucker, Tomasson, Røkeberg - Topper.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for North.
They fielded: Rüchele - Gabriele, Aviles - Lindquist, Quirini, Bruno, Rieks-Pedersen, Wakefield - Crawford, Chadwick, Martínez.
The visiting
C. Crawford was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 3 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score.
The home crowd was not impressed when
R. Bruno came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 12 minutes. North were now up 0 - 2.
A. Aviles came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
W. Stamper but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
The referee showed North's
A. Aviles the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
J. Cuestas was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Jotunheim's
M. Akins had to come off the bench.
After 24 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
J. Martínez a chance to increase the lead for North, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3.
With 26 minutes played, North put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
J. Martínez.
By now, the players in North felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4.
North claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 75 percent.
The visitors'
P. Quirini took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 47 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for North.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
P. Quirini from North a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 49 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
North increased their lead after 55 minutes when
C. Crawford broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 6, much to the home crowd's dismay.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
B. Rieks-Pedersen would have put North up another goal 64 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Jotunheim's
E. Topper was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 65 minutes.
L. Wilson was given a chance to change things around.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by North, with 77 percent of the ball.
Jotunheim's top performer was clearly
M. Akins.
E. Mattingly on the other hand, had a terrible day.
J. Martínez performed admirably for North.
B. Lindquist turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 6.
