previous 5/10 next 7/10  Wessel 5 - 0 Pilsner (392722351)

700 spectators had come to Het Kasteel this cloudy day. Erik Igaz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Aleksandar Trifunac and Davide Lotito. Wessel tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. Lineup: Spanjer - Chupin, Krym, Szalkowski, Walser - Kunstenaar, Pinxteren, Maioli, Michel, Haigh - Aubrunner.

Pilsner had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. They fielded: van der Felz - Treijtel, Egaña - Regner, 亚财 (Yacai), Krústev, Haugen, Öhringen - Linskens, Durzu, Heertje.

Wessel took the lead 6 minutes in, as D. Haigh broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. The score became 2 - 0 at 26 minutes into the game, when Wessel were given a penalty which N. Pinxteren blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance! Things were deteriorating for the away team as Wessel scored another to make it 3 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for K. Szalkowski after 27 minutes. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Wessel enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

After 48 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and M. Aubrunner gave the Wessel supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 0. The players of Wessel now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. After 83 minutes, M. Aubrunner put Wessel ahead 5 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. C. Haugen looked like he could fly, as he rose high to head the ball. Unfortunately for Pilsner, the ball went just barely wide. Wessel claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

The most dominating Wessel player was without a doubt R. Krym. M. Spanjer on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Pilsner player was 何. 亚财 (Yacai). T. van der Felz turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 0.
