27-06-2012 10.40
1179 spectators had found their way to
Blaue Lagune, despite the heavy rain.
Jacco ter Velde was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Friedrich Huufnagel and
Lars-Holger Siebenhütter.
RBK decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Soloviev - Zol, von Grüningen, Trioux, Bernard - Pasche, Wallbrunn, Erlmann, Enzler - Liebig, Nietlispach.
Hessikon had chosen a strategic 2-4-2 formation.
They fielded: Brunner - Lavener, Landert - Cottier, Geraci, Gisiger, Alner - Martineau, Vatter.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for RBK.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
C. Bernard from RBK a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 12 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
14 minutes in, Hessikon appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
passable.
RBK had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 20 minutes, but
E. Wallbrunn's shot from the left sailed high over the bar.
It was a bad day for the usually speedy
R. Lavener. The mud seemed to slow him down.
After 28 minutes, the visitors nearly went up a goal, but
A. Geraci's free kick hit the crossbar.
Hessikon's
M. Landert was shown a yellow card after 36 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
37 minutes into the game, Hessikon seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
inadequate level of organisation.
It was 0 - 0 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Hessikon, with 61 percent of the ball.
A review of the gameplan helped Hessikon get back to a
solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again.
Hessikon had no available replacements when
X. Alner had to leave the game after 63 minutes because of a pulled tendon, leaving the team a man short.
78 minutes into the game, Hessikon seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
inadequate.
R. Lavener behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 82 minutes as he gave the ball away to
F. Nietlispach. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
Hessikon enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.
Still tied after 90 minutes, the match continued into extra time.
During the break, Hessikon's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to
solid organisation.
A foul after 93 minutes resulted in a free kick.
R. Liebig cannonballed it, giving the home team the lead 1 - 0.
What a dramatic win for RBK!
F. Nietlispach performed admirably for RBK.
L. Zol on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The most dominating Hessikon player was without a doubt
M. Gisiger.
However,
R. Lavener made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 0.
