Dark skies made the crowd of 1322 at
Sutter's Mill a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Jesús Nadal Amador was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kaj Barkholt and
Leonhard Örn.
Rünenberg had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Noftziger - Casano, Amrein, Flaig - Straub, Pelka, Reinhard, Pfyl, Taillefer - Dominguez, Wehrda.
sepic decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Burton - Montoto, Delchmann, Evliya - Gazza, Irerberg, Rydiker, Schmidgall, Enzerink - Adnot, Le Masson.
A questionable penalty 16 minutes in gave the home side the lead, 1 - 0. The visitors' goalie didn't stand a chance as
J. Pelka knocked the ball home.
Rünenberg's
D. Amrein increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 17 minutes.
M. Flaig had a fantastic opportunity to put Rünenberg up another goal 21 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Rünenberg's
M. Dominguez swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
Rünenberg's
G. Reinhard saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 41 minutes.
It was 2 - 0 at the break.
Rünenberg claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.
After 46 minutes, sepic switched
E. Burton with
D. Barone, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
D. Amrein wanted to play on, but the Rünenberg coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 55 minutes into the game by
D. Schönmann.
Rünenberg had a magnificent opportunity after 67 minutes as
J. Taillefer hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide.
Rünenberg managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
J. Pelka cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
sepic's
O. Evliya was shown a yellow card after 73 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
D. Pfyl was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Rünenberg's
N. Zenger had to come off the bench.
M. Flaig became the new Rünenberg captain.
Possession in this half belonged to Rünenberg, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.
Rünenberg's top performer was clearly
J. Pelka.
J. Taillefer was a disappointment, however.
X. Montoto performed admirably for sepic.
However,
A. Gazza made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 0.
