previous 7/10 next 9/10  Victoria 3 - 2 Resourcitos (392795479)

1119 spectators had come to Municipal de Elviña this cloudy day. Ferenc Pintácsi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Anton Sjölind and Jordi Eüler. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Victoria. They fielded: Armero - Valdes, Raimundo - Vanzan, Petcu, Peña, Foy, Sołtysik - Arana, Ribé, Ossorio.

Resourcitos started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Macchiarolla - Armendáriz, Ashkenazi, Kaygas, Greter, Ferraguti - Achaval, Ingrao, Illia - Brescia, Strugo.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Resourcitos. After 4 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Resourcitos on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by P. Brescia to make it 0 - 1. Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Victoria, but J. Ossorio's shot went over the bar. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 20 minutes gave Victoria a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and É. Foy stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1 Victoria took the lead 22 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as A. Arana elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave R. Illia from Resourcitos a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 27 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! M. Sołtysik had a fantastic opportunity to put Victoria up another goal 34 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Victoria, who controlled the ball 79 percent of the time.

Victoria's A. Ribé saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 50 minutes. Resourcitos's J. Armendáriz refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 51 minutes. Coming from the right, A. Arana almost managed to score another goal for Victoria, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. Victoria managed to extend their lead to 3 - 1 when A. Valdes cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. A quick counter attack by Resourcitos forced the opponent's defender to give away a freekick. N. Ferraguti was allowed to take it quickly by the referee, much to the dismay of the goalkeeper who wasn't prepared. 3 - 2! Victoria had most of the ball, with 75 percent of possession.

Most important Victoria player was M. Petcu. On the other hand, A. Peña's play was disheartening. The most dominating Resourcitos player was without a doubt P. Brescia. N. Ferraguti was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
