Clouds darkened the skies at
Stadio del Mar Levante as 18360 spectators turned up for the match.
Johan Fredriksson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mats Wennstedt and
Ted van Aardenne.
Mostro had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Bančević - Pradela, Echerreaga, Tasca - Valdman, Trofin, Flek, Boitel, Lobo - Stewart, Sbalzer.
Shamrock decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Romanello - Cimpoeru, Perrotta, Mattei - Obhart, Francolino, Bilardi, Gaeta, Gandolfi - Andò, Cusanno.
Shamrock were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
The guests took the lead 2 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
G. Obhart scoring to make it 0 - 1.
With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 8 minutes played,
W. Tasca of Mostro made the score 1 - 1.

A. Lobo got himself booked for a foul.
G. Obhart was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Shamrock's
F. Schiavon had to come off the bench.
After 12 minutes
A. Gandolfi made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to
M. Cusanno who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 1 - 2.
After 19 minutes,
G. Trofin made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 2 - 2.
Shamrock took the lead after 29 minutes making the score 2 - 3.
R. Francolino placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
M. Cusanno was, after 29 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
D. Bančević made the save.
It was 2 - 3 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Shamrock, with 56 percent of the ball.
Shamrock came close to extending their lead as
R. Francolino delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 58 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
68 minutes into the game,
A. Lobo came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar.
Some fine movement on the left led to a Shamrock goal after 70 minutes, making it 2 - 4.
D. Andò was noted down as the scorer.
M. Pradela challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 73 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it.
A drive down the left side allowed
M. Gaeta to get in close and score another goal for Shamrock after 77 minutes, taking the score to 2 - 5.
D. Andò of Shamrock took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 80 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 2 - 6.
The players of Shamrock now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Shamrock had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.
Most important Mostro player was
W. Tasca.
J. Echerreaga on the other hand, had a terrible day.
M. Cusanno performed admirably for Shamrock.
However,
L. Perrotta made a disastrous appearance.
