previous 8/10 next 10/10  Kitana 4 - 0 UZ (392836035)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 43772 had shown up at Royal Kit Stadium for the match. Tony Wale was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Arto Tolsa and Arni Ruusila. Kitana decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Berkowitz - Bakhmetiev, Chocrón, Danilovskiy - Madlung, Sviridov, Ribas, Birle, Puk - Fabris, Gorshenkov.

UZ tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. The following players took the field: Dornheim - Gurbajevas, Navarrete, Čusto, Tolbatov - Bamberg, Saarinen, Saraiva, Da Silva, Teerlinck - Zanchetta.

For their match strategy, UZ had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. 2 minutes in, Kitana's G. Birle received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. A lovely run by Kitana's C. Puk left his markers for dead and should have resulted in a goal, but the finish went just wide. The celebrations in the stands could only mean one thing - K. Madlung's free kick had found the back of the net and put Kitana ahead 1 - 0! K. Madlung of Kitana was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Kitana's E. Berkowitz left the field after 34 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was I. Radchenko. Kitana increased the lead as A. Gorshenkov struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Kitana had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Kitana's K. Madlung struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 3 - 0 after 59 minutes. Confident in their lead, Kitana's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. N. Fabris could have increased the lead after 64 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. K. Madlung increased Kitana's lead to 4 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for K. Madlung. Kitana enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

N. Fabris performed admirably for Kitana. I. Radchenko turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating UZ player was without a doubt M. Navarrete. G. Dornheim was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 0.
