KAP 1 - 4 Jappie
(392864661)

04-07-2012 17.00
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 38170 to
KAPitulatie.
Shawn Sherman was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Nicolae Pavel and
Detlev Wunderer.
All of
Noord-Brabant was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
KAP tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Lineup: Gietemann - Sweelinck, Chowaniak, Brons - Langerak, van Tienen, Aandenboom, Koopmans, Irayueta - Wellens, Hondeveld.
Jappie decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Wallerich - Proch, Batten, Pater - Root, Katila, Trossel, Kolthof, Gersonius - Öztün, Thörngård.
When
J. Brons was badly injured by a couple of strong tackles after 8 minutes, KAP fans were unhappy to discover that it was not possible to make a substitution.
The terraces were silenced after 21 minutes when Jappie's
S. Pater put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right.
What ever got into
R. Aandenboom, the crowd mumbled, as he suddenly struck a cross pass through his own defence - ending up right in front of Jappie's
T. Thörngård, who easily put the ball away for 0 - 2 after 32 minutes.
The sun seemed to put
Á. Irayueta in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long.
KAP's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 39 minutes into the match as
J. Wellens ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 1 - 2.
G. Gietemann got a fingertip on
A. Öztün's shot from the left 42 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
Unfortunately for KAP,
P. Koopmans suffered a concussion after 43 minutes and had to be taken for tests. The coach had his head in his hands after realising he could not send a replacement onto the pitch, and the team had to continue a man short.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2.
Jappie claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.
Jappie increased their lead after 52 minutes when
W. Gersonius broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
J. Wellens from KAP a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 62 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
T. Thörngård was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Jappie's
P. Camaro had to come off the bench.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
W. Gersonius was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 64 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
Jappie's
S. Pater made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 73 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
After 79 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
R. Batten to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 4.
After this, you could see that the players of Jappie were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Jappie, with 69 percent of the ball.
KAP's best player was
J. Wellens.
On the other hand,
R. van Tienen's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Jappie player was without a doubt
H. Kolthof.
P. Camaro on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 1 - 4.
