previous 4/10 next 6/10  Hejhy 0 - 4 Radkov (392866920)

The 1450 spectators at Winner arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Robert Hannabuss was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Michael Terrett and Justus Rautenfeld. A 4-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Hejhy. Starters: Burr - Amat, Kiehelä, Pozler, Balažovič - Drugics, Sháněl, Herclík, Sekal - Kuromochi.

Radkov had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Simplício - Diagne, Barbosa Ferreira, Buijing, Fasani - Łukowiak, Fuzeta, Száva, Baun - Mazzocato, Nordlandkai.

Hejhy used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Radkov took a creative approach on the field. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile M. Kuromochi. T. Kiehelä of Hejhy received a yellow card after 10 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 12 minutes into the game, A. Mazzocato had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came R. Keller. Radkov's R. Keller managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 15 minutes. 0 - 1. After 23 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Hejhy found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. With 29 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed A. Nordlandkai of Radkov to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2. J. Amat's inexperience was obvious when his continual hesitation to put in a tackle allowed A. Nordlandkai plenty of time to pick an unguarded area of the goal for his shot, marking one for Radkov. 0 - 3. By now, the players in Radkov felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. With 37 minutes played, P. Łukowiak of Radkov fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. T. Kiehelä behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 38 minutes as he gave the ball away to R. Keller. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. 39 minutes into the game, Hejhy seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. The Radkov free kick 42 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of M. Fasani, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 0 - 4! The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4. Radkov had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Hejhy had solid organisation. Radkov's R. Keller made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 55 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. A. Fuzeta didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. Hejhy players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. A. Fuzeta came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over J. Burr but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. 83 minutes into the game, Hejhy had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to inadequate. Hejhy were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. After 86 minutes, the defensive line of Radkov created a counterattack through the middle that gave A. Nordlandkai a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Possession in this half belonged to Radkov, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.

The most dominating Hejhy player was without a doubt M. Kuromochi. On the other hand, T. Kiehelä's play was disheartening. Radkov's best player was M. Fasani. P. Łukowiak turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 4.
