Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 34658 to Grande Lago. Sanel Ulisse was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Filipe Balmer and Che Harun bin Mustaffa. Kestens got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. After 31 minutes, J. Visch came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving ZILLI the lead. With 32 minutes played, ZILLI's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to H. Hoffer he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 3 - 1. ZILLI's J. Visch swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. M. Peixoto was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from Hakuna's defence 35 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 3 - 2. 3 - 2 was the halftime score. ZILLI claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

After 56 minutes Hakuna's F. da Lagoa contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. U. Kestens could have increased the lead after 69 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. 71 minutes into the match, Hakuna's C. Fernandes popped up from nowhere, cheekily stole the ball off an opposition player and scored. 3 - 3. Hakuna showed their counterattack skill 73 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with C. Fernandes scoring uncontested for 3 - 4. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for C. Fernandes. The referee showed Hakuna's G. Carvalhães the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. ZILLI's U. Kestens put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 77 minutes, but the ball went wide. ZILLI's F. Harberg left the field after 79 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was J. Velloso. The ZILLI captaincy was handed to É. Philip. Players in ZILLI heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. Possession in this half belonged to ZILLI, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.
