Łach made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. It was obvious that team Nerazzurri had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 40 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when T. Poprawa tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Institute enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

Things were going to get worse for the visitors. R. Zierhut squirmed through their central defence after 48 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. 54 minutes into the game, D. Tomlinson had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came V. Di Benedetto. T. Poprawa's speed was clear to see after 59 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released E. Baumüller who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 2 - 1. Cheers filled the stadium as R. Zierhut broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 1 to Institute. Nerazzurri were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 68 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to D. Mazzaroni, who smashed it home to make the score 3 - 2. 69 minutes into the game Nerazzurri's D. Mazzaroni found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 3 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Institute, with 56 percent of the ball.

Institute's top performer was clearly G. Howard. On the other hand, A. Ghasempour's play was disheartening. B. Rojnić performed admirably for Nerazzurri. However, P. Melicher made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 3.
