VfB demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. Many thought T. Sanchez ought to have been awarded a penalty 9 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around V. Karageorgiev after a determined run through the middle. After 17 minutes, VfB raised their score by one when J. Zeller-Denk's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by J. Zollstock. 0 - 1. With 28 minutes played, F. Kwiatoń of Impalers fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Impalers had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.

T. Sanchez was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for Impalers with a strike from the left, but V. Karageorgiev managed to ward the shot off for a corner. M. Bostic showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 68 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. VfB had to manage with a reduced squad after 70 minutes, as C. Bettella got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. G. Rojas was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Impalers's J. Fuster had to come off the bench. Impalers took the lead after 74 minutes as a result of G. Mackenzie's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1. F. Kwiatoń acted foolishly after 77 minutes, giving the ball up to VfB's J. Zollstock who had no trouble finding the back of the net. 2 - 2. A foul after 80 minutes resulted in a free kick. T. Sanchez cannonballed it, giving the home team the lead 3 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Impalers, with 85 percent of the ball.

Impalers's top performer was clearly G. Mackenzie. On the other hand, J. Vierkorn's play was disheartening. Most important VfB player was H. Jehle. However, G. Caucci made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 2.
