previous 6/10 next 8/10  PAMR 0 - 1 Borgorosso (392906010)

It had rained all day, but 639 hardy fans still made it out to PAMR. Wolfgang Knöpfel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kees van Wijk and Iván Federico Aguirre. PAMR decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. The following players took the field: Maciesza - Dzienisz, Simple, Cerioni, Schönenberg - Geiser, Persson, Mendera, Briand, Simaey - Marín Marín.

Borgorosso started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. They fielded: Suances - Moya, Vidziunas, Dettori, Bęben - Cagliostro, Spidle, Parisis, Hernando de Soro, Vanherck - Valdés.

The wings were the focus of most of PAMR's attacks today. For their match strategy, Borgorosso had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. At 3 minutes played, S. Simple came in from the right with the intention of giving PAMR the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. 4 minutes into the game, O. Cagliostro finished off a Borgorosso left wing counterattack, making the score 0 - 1. It might be a while before the fans see Borgorosso's O. Cagliostro again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 7 minute mark. He was replaced by F. Morano. With 9 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, T. Cerioni needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. 21 minutes into the game, PAMR seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. Attacking on the wings was the choice for PAMR, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. PAMR's R. Dzienisz put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 26 minutes, but the ball went wide. With 27 minutes played, M. Geiser of PAMR fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. PAMR's S. Simple left the field after 28 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was P. Galland. With 33 minutes played, after a good run down the left, J. Marín Marín went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving. With the clock showing 36 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Borgorosso resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by Y. Parisis in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. 38 minutes in, PAMR appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only poor. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. PAMR enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of PAMR was able to get his message across, and raised PAMR's organisation to passable. P. Vidziunas left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 46 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. K. Krzymiński was the replacement. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Borgorosso coach let S. Gherardini replace K. Spidle after 50 minutes. Q. Vanherck became the new Borgorosso captain. After 55 minutes, PAMR switched J. Marín Marín with T. Rahmouni, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but K. Krzymiński showed great heart and had a good game. You could feel the tension in the crowd after the referee awarded the home side a penalty kick and a chance to equalise. Sadly, M. Persson's shot sailed wide of the goal. T. Rahmouni charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for PAMR, but the shot went well wide of the goal. After 73 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as PAMR found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. Borgorosso were able to mount several counterattacks, such as the impressive one after 75 minutes, but C. Hernando de Soro lofted a free kick over the crossbar. PAMR's C. Schönenberg was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 76 minutes. It was obvious that PAMR had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. The referee showed PAMR's P. Galland the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. PAMR claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.

Most important PAMR player was T. Rahmouni. D. Maciesza turned in a dismal performance, however. Borgorosso's top performer was clearly S. Gherardini. However, K. Krzymiński made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 1.
