1172 fans braved the pouring rain at
Gemini Arena.
Peter Schæfer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Laurent Dubost and
Viktor Lindenhof.
Gemini decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
They fielded: Nieśmiałek - Polučanskis, Maandag, Pamphile, Sereno - Haines, Dignan, Romero, Jitaru - Loose, Błasiński.
Sempre tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Sadak - Bizzo, Oberwinster, Lebas - Pontier, Katsampis, Strazzullo, Testoni, Rotini - Pellanda, Nironi.
Sempre used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
T. Błasiński scored for Gemini putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 4 minutes.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
D. Testoni should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Gemini a goal with 5 minutes of the match played.
After 17 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
T. Błasiński might have resulted in another goal for Gemini. However,
Ç. Sadak made a spectacular save.
20 minutes into the match, the speedy
A. Loose easily outpaced
L. Bizzo, chipped the keeper and made the score 2 - 0.
After this, you could see that the players of Gemini were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
The home team's fans were not happy with the visitors'
S. Lebas's great free kick that resulted in Sempre reducing the score to 2 - 1.
2 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Gemini, with 59 percent of the ball.
With 56 minutes played, Gemini's
T. Błasiński almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
After 62 minutes,
T. Błasiński put Gemini ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
After 67 minutes, Sempre sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
B. Nironi, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 3 - 2.
75 minutes in, Gemini's
N. Jitaru received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
76 minutes in, Sempre appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
passable.
Gemini had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
Gemini's top performer was clearly
P. Pamphile.
A. Loose turned in a dismal performance, however.
Sempre's best player was
B. Nironi.
D. Testoni was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 2.
