previous 4/10 next 6/10  Scanteia 0 - 4 Velence (392924052)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 1962 had shown up at Grand Arena Cluj for the match. Can Bach was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Héctor Verano and Andrzej Hućko. Scanteia had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Starters: Mardale - Cagliostro, Rusei, Vozoras, Şălaru - Feński, Belsvik, Unterberger, Solano, Benedetti - Afonso.

A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Velence. Lineup: Buserski - Lopes, Post, Ljuta, Szabó, 可风 (Kefeng) - Curnow, Pfäffinger, Mor-Yossef, Bryner - Brignola.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Scanteia. Velence clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 8 minutes, Velence did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, R. Brignola was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1. 陈. 可风 (Kefeng)'s lack of experience almost gave Scanteia a goal after 14 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. After 23 minutes, Velence sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached A. Szabó, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 2. After this, you could see that the players of Velence were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. After 27 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed M. Curnow to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 3. Velence's R. Brignola left the field after 32 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was C. Fabbrini. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the Velence coach let G. Kresz replace A. Bryner after 50 minutes. After 64 minutes of game time, M. Curnow had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but V. Mardale was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. With 81 minutes played, Velence put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was G. Kresz. Scanteia's S. Unterberger was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 84 minutes. Possession in this half belonged to Velence, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

Scanteia's top performer was clearly S. Unterberger. However, M. Vozoras made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Velence player was without a doubt L. Pfäffinger. T. Mor-Yossef on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 4.
