04-07-2012 10.00
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 1993 at
Stadio Delle Alpi today.
Eugenio Tucci was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ángel Báez and
Hendrik-Jan Zollner.
Juventus started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
They fielded: Hoffmeister - Dogan, Alencar, Törmä - Coussement, Vogel, Steidinger, Claesson - Espicia, Kuttenberger, Kocher.
A 5-2-3 alignment was the formation of choice for BoB.
Starters: Dragomir - Sachsen-Paule, Drakbeck, Eggbom, Säfgren, Andersson - Røst, Silverén - Gkertsos, Runko, Sidenlind.
BoB were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Juventus had a good opportunity to take the lead as
G. Kocher came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of
S. Dragomir.
With the clock showing 6 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of BoB resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
J. Drakbeck in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high.
Slack defending gave Juventus a chance to take the lead with 11 minutes played, but
J. Kuttenberger's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
BoB mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 12 minutes, but
I. Gkertsos was unable to convert from short range.
A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 25 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Juventus's
G. Kocher to one side and produced a red card for the player.
Juventus had a chance to take the lead after
J. Kuttenberger's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 28 minutes.
With 29 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of BoB resulted in a counterattack that set
D. Runko free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
BoB's
I. Gkertsos was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 30 minutes.
34 minutes into the game,
O. Claesson had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
V. Niemann.
The Juventus captaincy was handed to
M. Dogan.
Halftime score was 0 - 0.
Juventus claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.
With 48 minutes gone,
F. Eggbom suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by BoB caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring.
Juventus's
F. Coussement tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
Juventus were very close to putting themselves one up after 80 minutes as
A. Alencar got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Juventus, with 70 percent of the ball.
Juventus's best player was
J. Kuttenberger.
However,
F. Coussement made a disastrous appearance.
M. Andersson performed admirably for BoB.
S. Dragomir turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 0.
