Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 274 at Hellas Arena today. Noreno Humara was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ryan Edmiston and Ignác Közsegi. Hellas decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. The following players took the field: Meroni - Dunand, Hybler, Spigarolo, Lukowitsch - Faria, Izsák, Hitsch-Klöckner, Carballosa, Cominotti - Pittaro.

Atletico had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Tini - Rotoaatara, Schkeuditz, Spasari, Causerano, Eshkol - Perra, Origa, D'Amore - Hughes, Banana.

After 3 minutes, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant. B. Pittaro easily put the ball away to give the lead to Hellas. 1 - 0 Hellas's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 12 minutes gone, but M. Cominotti's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. Atletico's T. Schkeuditz got himself booked for a foul. Hellas's B. Hybler increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 22 minutes. At 23 minutes, the visitors got a chance to reduce the score when a penalty was awarded, but M. Perra, intimidated by the crowd, missed it. T. Schkeuditz of Atletico got sent off for kicking the ball after the whistle, a completely uncalled for move, earning him his second yellow card of the game. The home side's T. Izsák came close to extending the lead 26 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but C. Tini managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. 28 minutes into the game, Atletico seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. Hellas's S. Carballosa's long shot really ought to have found the net 30 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target. A great save by keeper C. Tini after 39 minutes kept the visitors in the game after B. Pittaro struck from the left with a real cannonball. 42 minutes into the game, Atletico had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Hellas enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Atletico had solid organisation. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Hellas to 3 - 0 as M. Cominotti finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. B. Pittaro wanted to play on, but the Hellas coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 55 minutes into the game by E. Königen. E. Königen was handed the Hellas captain's armband. The coach of Hellas was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 70 minutes, N. Garbosa came on for G. Hitsch-Klöckner. After 81 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Atletico found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to weak. With 82 minutes played, Hellas put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to L. Faria, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Hellas lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Hellas claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.

Hellas's best player was E. Königen. T. Izsák was a disappointment, however. R. Banana performed admirably for Atletico. However, A. Hughes made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 0.
