(392960248)

03-07-2012 18.15
642 punters turned up at
Süd West Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Włodek Bartz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
José Parada and
Eloi Caçador.
West tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Bressan - Aguiar, Spiels, Maccioni - Calabrese, Karwacki, Bausola, Semrau, Kovacic - Appleyard, Santana.
Travemonster started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
Lineup: Pas - Katz, Poznić - Olías, Gallagher, Purucker, Sächsisch, Pfarrherr - Batman, Hüstermann, Nick.
It was an obvious ambition of West to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
S. Semrau gave West the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0
Cheers filled the stadium as
J. Kovacic broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to West.
F. Bausola's lack of experience almost gave Travemonster a goal after 26 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
Travemonster's opponents know to be wary of
J. Olías's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 30 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive!
West had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
2 - 0 was the halftime score.
West had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.
After 49 minutes,
K. Batman sprinted between the opposing defenders and squared the ball, but the keeper deflected
A. Nick's shot.
West's
S. Semrau saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 52 minutes.
After 59 minutes Travemonster's
J. Olías limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
V. Maccioni could have put West up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 76 minutes.
It was obvious that West had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
After 78 minutes,
E. Santana put West ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
West enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 76 percent of possession.
The most dominating West player was without a doubt
R. Appleyard.
F. Bausola on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Travemonster player was
J. Pas.
R. Pfarrherr was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 0.
