Vrazda 0 - 8 Devils (392960975)

The crowd of 2461 turning up at Vrazedna Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Donny Dopfer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Zukisa Mokitimi and Stavros Diamantopoulos. Vrazda had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Ravera - Malheiro, Slamčík, Zamiška - Zmeták, Mišiak, Sedliaček, Hurina, Ihradský - Žatecký, Spevák.

Devils started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. Starters: Tiggelaar - Ohmayer, Meisterfeld, Tiikkoja, Asta - Gagliano, Nash, Mettraux, Korkut, Barato - Ferdik.

Vrazda focused on getting players in position for long range shots. R. Ohmayer had a good opportunity to give Devils the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. G. Asta did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. The guests took the lead 33 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in Y. Korkut scoring to make it 0 - 1. It was obvious that the tactic of the day for Vrazda was to go for long shots, but in order to score they have to do better than the shooting attempt from M. Slamčík after 35 minutes, which was a total failure. Y. Korkut received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 39 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Devils fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The players of Devils now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. A drive down the left side allowed G. Gagliano to get in close and score another goal for Devils after 43 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 3. Halftime score was 0 - 3. Devils enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 77 percent of possession.

After a short break after 50 minutes, Devils seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. The Devils coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 51 minutes into the game. M. Slamčík was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. A. Mettraux of Devils took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 59 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 4. A. Meisterfeld wanted to play on, but the Devils coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 60 minutes into the game by H. Hawranek. R. Ohmayer's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert C. Ferdik was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Devils. 0 - 5. After 83 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave J. Barato a chance to increase the lead for Devils, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 6. The head of G. Gagliano connected with a corner kick after 86 minutes, and the ball ended up with Y. Korkut of Devils who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 0 - 7. At that, Y. Korkut was noted down for a hat trick! After 87 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Y. Korkut who increased Devils's lead to 0 - 8. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Devils, with 77 percent of the ball.

Vrazda's top performer was clearly L. Ihradský. V. Sedliaček turned in a dismal performance, however. G. Gagliano performed admirably for Devils. R. Tiggelaar was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 8.
