previous 5/10 next 7/10  FCD 0 - 5 Malbork (392969328)

Clear skies welcomed the 2403 spectators who had made their way to fc diamond Arena. Giuseppe Villani was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tomasz Fliszkiewicz and Albertino Angelino. FCD started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Amitrani - Tramasure, Diagne, Claude - Sleeckx, Guiran, Van Malderen, Joachim, Terlinden - das Mercês, Helsen.

Malbork tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Branzanti - Ben Allal, Itacoatiara, Santacatalina - Convertino, Masyutin, Ignat, Chomski, Perekitnyi - Guthrie, Vilgertshofer.

The wings were the focus of most of Malbork's attacks today. Malbork's A. Ignat managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 16 minutes. 0 - 1. O. Guthrie came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over G. Amitrani but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. The referee showed FCD's G. Tramasure the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. O. Guthrie increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Malbork, with 66 percent of the ball.

Malbork's L. Convertino made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 51 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. Malbork increased their lead after 65 minutes when H. Vilgertshofer broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. Confident in their lead, Malbork's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Malbork had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. With 81 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed M. Ben Allal of Malbork to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 4. The home crowd was not impressed when H. Vilgertshofer came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 85 minutes. Malbork were now up 0 - 5. Malbork enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 73 percent of possession.

FCD's top performer was clearly J. Terlinden. G. Amitrani was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Malbork player was without a doubt H. Vilgertshofer. However, S. Itacoatiara made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 5.
