Clouds darkened the skies at UltrArena as 1973 spectators turned up for the match. Antti Peltoperä was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Siem van Buren and Branislav Novaković. Adhémar managed to reduce the score to 2 - 1 as J. Angèle finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave V. Mureşanu from Marra a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 36 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! It was obvious that Marra had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. With 40 minutes played, Marra's K. Kutlucan almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Marra had to manage with a reduced squad after 41 minutes, as H. Özkutal got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. Marra put themselves up 3 - 1 when G. Liebel broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. 3 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Marra, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.

B. Blas of Adhémar received a yellow card after 58 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The visitors replied 64 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 3 - 2, as C. Frère dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. Marra managed to extend their lead to 4 - 2 when T. Tibabuzo cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. The visitors got one back when C. Frère finished off a pass from the left and scored after 76 minutes. 4 - 3 was the score. Adhémar levelled the score after 77 minutes to make it 4 - 4, as A. Bellezza struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked. Marra enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. Marra took the lead 93 minutes in, as V. Mureşanu broke through on the left and put the 5 - 4 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. What a dramatic win for Marra! Marra's best player was A. Šedauskas. T. Christiansson was a disappointment, however. A. Bellezza performed admirably for Adhémar. L. Kerékgyártó turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 4.
