Rullini 2 - 1 Scolnus (392986553)

1497 punters turned up at Wilhem Schaeffler Stadium, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Mickaël Rouillier was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Georg Weiler and Pierre Pheulpin. Rullini decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Alvisi - Buongiorno, Schulz-Hoffmann, Capotorto - Brunori, Panichi, Ribichini, Pesch, Leuenberger - Gigio, Porfido.

Scolnus tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players took the field: Perales - Liski, Røst, Rahmgren, Fleschutz - Ventura, Gillmeister, Villaurreta, Evtimov - Lampe, Dorenberg.

15 minutes in, Scolnus's A. Dorenberg received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Unfortunately for Rullini, H. Pesch was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. G. Lodolini replaced him. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, M. Leuenberger took over the role of being the Rullini captain. With 29 minutes played, S. Gigio of Rullini fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. V. Ribichini of Rullini received a yellow card after 32 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 33 minutes into the match, Rullini's M. Leuenberger demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to S. Gigio who chipped it in for 1 - 0. Scolnus made it 1 - 1 as J. Lampe got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to E. Røst who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Rullini created a good opportunity to score 41 minutes into the match when G. Lodolini's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Rullini enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

Rullini were very close to putting themselves one up after 47 minutes as H. Schulz-Hoffmann got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, M. Leuenberger got himself booked. The manager of Rullini was not happy. Rullini's M. Leuenberger left the field after 79 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was R. Rasponi. H. Schulz-Hoffmann was the new captain of Rullini - handed the armband by the departing player. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave R. Rasponi from Rullini a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 84 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A. Capotorto of Rullini seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 2 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by S. Gigio. After 85 minutes, Scolnus switched J. Liski with J. Kenyér, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. F. Villaurreta was handed the Scolnus captain's armband. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Scolnus's K. Gillmeister was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 85 minutes. K. Twardoń was given a chance to change things around. After 87 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Scolnus found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to solid. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rullini, with 67 percent of the ball.

S. Gigio performed admirably for Rullini. A. Porfido turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Scolnus player was without a doubt J. Lampe. On the other hand, A. Evtimov's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
