previous 5/10 next 7/10  Behnsdorf 2 - 1 Weisse (393016319)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 48218 had shown up at Erdinger Arena for the match. Vítor Alçada was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gerwazy Kobielarz and Urban Larsson. Behnsdorf started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Gudra - Kotarba, Geipel-Faber, Hansal - Singler, Glam, Beyens, Mazzullo, Masotti - Wasmaier, Marstein.

Weisse had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Obersdorf - Santilhana, Heeg, Recht - Zacharias, Rensing, Brüchle, Ulleweit, Kansikas - Nordkvist, Geiberger.

T. Beyens of Behnsdorf received a yellow card after 28 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. J. Recht came close to putting the visiting team one up 32 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but B. Gudra managed to tip the ball to a corner. A free kick aimed at the keeper's far post almost gave Weisse the lead 33 minutes in, but the ball just wasn't able to squirm its way through the defensive wall. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, A. Mazzullo got himself booked. The manager of Behnsdorf was not happy. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Behnsdorf, with 52 percent of the ball.

Many thought P. Marstein ought to have been awarded a penalty 52 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around W. Obersdorf after a determined run through the middle. 0 - 1 was the score with 74 minutes played, after D. Heeg cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Weisse. R. Ulleweit got left behind when Behnsdorf's P. Marstein made a sudden run forward after 75 minutes, finishing off with a neat strike. 1 - 1! An opportunity to take the lead after 78 minutes was wasted as Weisse's S. Santilhana missed a penalty, firing wide of the mark. Possession in this half belonged to Behnsdorf, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

As neither team was able to break the deadlock before the end of regular play, the teams took to the field again for extra time. Behnsdorf had to manage with a reduced squad after 100 minutes, as H. Kotarba got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to M. Wasmaier, but the Behnsdorf player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! What a dramatic win for Behnsdorf! Behnsdorf's top performer was clearly B. Gudra. R. Glam was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Weisse player was without a doubt P. Geiberger. On the other hand, D. Heeg's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
