(393016977)

10-07-2012 19.05
Due to an all-day shower, 599 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
Pizza & Fichi Arena.
Christian Crevits was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Léon Ducournau and
Lázaro Britto.
Pizza had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
The following players took the field: Paolini - Rubi, Camorani - Voccoli, Mendrino, Caridi, Gosmar, Lizza - Pistarà, Zanatta, Termali.
Fila tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Ratazzi - Cojocaru, Goncalvez, Palinger, Kósi, Choromański - Wadsworth, Nadal, Gökbay - Pochettini, Milanes.
Fila clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
G. Pistarà slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today.
Pizza took the lead, 1 - 0, after a penalty 27 minutes into the match.
L. Camorani scored from the penalty spot.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
F. Rubi from Pizza a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 32 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
The crowd was amused as
N. Zanatta of Pizza used a few interesting tricks and dribbles to get into the penalty box. The finish by
O. Lizza wasn't very amusing, however, as the ball flew way over the crossbar.
G. Pistarà left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 34 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
S. Musarella was the replacement.
Fila tied it all up, 37 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by
W. Palinger, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 1 - 1.
After 38 minutes, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant.
L. Camorani easily put the ball away to give the lead to Pizza. 2 - 1
Halftime score was 2 - 1.
Pizza claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 68 percent.
S. Voccoli wanted to play on, but the Pizza coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by
C. Mastrosimone.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Pizza's
G. Termali increasing the lead to 3 - 1.
The referee showed Fila's
W. Palinger the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
After 59 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
F. Rubi gave the Pizza supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1.
Confident in their lead, Pizza's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
F. Rubi had a fantastic opportunity to put Pizza up another goal 61 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
With 67 minutes played, Pizza put themselves up 5 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
N. Zanatta, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
68 minutes into the game, Fila's attack got through on the right, but
X. Milanes couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms.
Possession in this half belonged to Pizza, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.
Pizza's best player was
S. Musarella.
On the other hand,
M. Caridi's play was disheartening.
C. Pochettini performed admirably for Fila.
However,
G. Ratazzi made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 5 - 1.
