previous 4/10 next 6/10  M.G.F.C. 2 - 3 Cabroski (393018019)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and F. Sörensson saw a crowd turnout of 53571. Olivier Galtier was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rolf Hamburger and Rajko Vrkljan. M.G.F.C. tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Romanato - Inam, Bruggink - Langnaese, Frullone, Ajello, Scaccia, Giannotti - Bannò, Bonisolo, Menabue.

Cabroski decided to use a 5-4-1 set up. Starters: Braghini - Karlsen, Brotorp, Schneyder, Polkowski, Scalamandre - Lobato, Bettega, Bonamusa, Pellegrino - Pollicino.

With 11 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as B. Menabue flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave G. Giannotti from M.G.F.C. a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 16 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 22 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but C. Romanato got the best of it, blocking the shot from A. Karlsen. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to M.G.F.C., who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

Cabroski needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 55 minutes L. Polkowski made way for D. Horcasitas. After 58 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after D. Bettega made it through the middle and struck home to make it 1 - 1. M.G.F.C. broke through on the left 63 minutes into the game, with L. Frullone firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead. C. Romanato's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save from R. Schneyder's shot from the left 65 minutes into the match. 74 minutes into the match, S. Pellegrino bent a free kick around the home team's defensive formation, leaving the keeper with no chance for a save. Cabroski had levelled the scoreline at 2 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by M.G.F.C., with 53 percent of the ball.

With the scores being level after 90 minutes, the match went into extra time. Cabroski took the lead 99 minutes into the game, making the score 2 - 3 after some elegant movement down the middle. A. Karlsen was the scorer. Extra time over, Cabroski were the victors! Most important M.G.F.C. player was G. Bruggink. D. Langnaese turned in a dismal performance, however. Cabroski's best player was S. Pollicino. However, R. Schneyder made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 3.
