previous 4/10 next 6/10  Vecsés 3 - 4 CSAKIS (393033159)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Dózsa György út saw a crowd turnout of 55251. Ntinos Pagkitis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Fernando Espanhol and Emmanuel Bailleux. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this Budapest derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. Vecsés started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Peres - Raffay, Milán, Völgyi - Hevesi, Csiszár, Magyari, Forrai, Mezey - Ifrach, Karazeev.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for CSAKIS. They fielded: Sonninen - Cabezón, Scolozzi, Olenbratt - Dufays, Cerón, Rothschild, Bordicio, Tenore - Rétlaki, Bigler.

Vecsés used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. Today, CSAKIS's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave S. Magyari from Vecsés a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 22 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A. Ifrach's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 26 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to A. Karazeev who knocked it in for Vecsés. 1 - 0! Things were going to get worse for the visitors. P. Mezey squirmed through their central defence after 28 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. The pressing tactics used by Vecsés were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. A late sliding challenge from S. Magyari was deemed to be his second yellow card offence by the referee, resulting in him being sent off, and Vecsés left a man down. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, F. Forrai took over the role of being the Vecsés captain. With 34 minutes played, A. Ifrach could have brought this one home for Vecsés as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. CSAKIS had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

57 minutes into the match, CSAKIS replied and reduced the lead to 2 - 1. F. Bordicio scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. CSAKIS needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 60 minutes B. Rétlaki made way for C. Martin. It was obvious that CSAKIS had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. L. Olenbratt came close to levelling the score 62 minutes into the game, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post. The home team will be cursing F. Bordicio for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem. The match was level at 2 - 2 after 77 minutes. Vecsés fans held their breath as F. Forrai scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 3 - 2! Attacking on the wings was the choice for CSAKIS, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. The visitors' F. Bordicio was alert after a cross coming in from the left, levelling the score at 3 - 3 after 85 minutes. That made three goals for F. Bordicio and he was marked down for the hat trick. CSAKIS claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. CSAKIS's I. Cerón gave the visitors a 3 - 4 lead after 93 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Extra time over, CSAKIS were the victors! Vecsés's top performer was clearly A. Ifrach. However, M. Hevesi made a disastrous appearance. Most important CSAKIS player was H. Bigler. G. Tenore on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 4.
