Clear skies welcomed the 31600 spectators who had made their way to Brijao du SoL. Vincent van Dale was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Eike Kolarik and Micha Eilvese. NNoB started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Bredlund - Slăbuţu, Velescu, Hortobágyi - Mierzchała, Alegre, Vayssie, De Gracia, Unas - Vahlberg, Dorobanţu.

Luceafarul had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Starters: Sharir - Geibler, Ezinga, Von der Mühll, Peak - Gazzea, Warnier, Moltke, Surgontas, Franceschini - Iversen.

Luceafarul will have to do without J. Peak for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 5 minute mark. He was substituted by C. Cubillán. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to B. Dorobanţu, but the NNoB player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Coming from the right, R. Vahlberg almost managed to score another goal for NNoB, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. A well placed corner kick from F. Slăbuţu was followed by Z. Hortobágyi's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for NNoB, the score now 2 - 0. The home team's fans were not happy with the visitors' D. Ezinga's great free kick that resulted in Luceafarul reducing the score to 2 - 1. 2 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by NNoB, with 54 percent of the ball.

D. Unas wanted to play on, but the NNoB coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by J. Strube. J. Strube was the new captain of NNoB - handed the armband by the departing player. The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 71 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but J. Bredlund got the best of it, blocking the shot from G. Iversen. The home side's B. De Gracia came close to extending the lead 79 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but I. Sharir managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. The referee showed Luceafarul's L. Moltke the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. With 86 minutes played, NNoB's D. Alegre almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. NNoB claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.

NNoB's top performer was clearly B. Dorobanţu. J. Strube turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Luceafarul player was without a doubt G. Iversen. On the other hand, C. Cubillán's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
