Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 40379 at Včelý úl Arena today. Rolf Reseberg was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Dean King and Norbert Földvárszki. FCV decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Greggio - Polloshka, de Liever, 文友 (Wenyou) - Lübek, Goulart, Salemi, Stamatakis, Bica - Arnold, Mayer.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Supersonics. The following players had been chosen: Atzamopoulos - Velek, Oršulík, Campani - Dioayuda, Šilhán, Maloň, Šteiner, Bruzelius - Vrsaljko, Fayet.

The wings were the focus of most of FCV's attacks today. The visiting C. Campani was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 10 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. With 13 minutes played, FCV's P. Arnold found an opening in the visitors' left side defence, but his shot was handled easily by the keeper. The visitors' C. Dioayuda took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 29 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Supersonics. É. Fayet received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 32 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The Supersonics fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 0 - 3 was the halftime score. Supersonics had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

With 71 minutes played, the FCV coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. M. Tenora came on, P. Arnold had to leave the fray. FCV's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 71 minutes into the match as M. Mayer ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 1 - 3. With the scoreboard showing that 75 minutes had been played, Supersonics nearly put themselves up another goal after C. Campani came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. The referee showed FCV's R. Goulart the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. M. Mayer almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. C. Dioayuda's speed was clear to see after 81 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released É. Fayet who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 1 - 4. C. Dioayuda left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 81 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. P. Kašpar was the replacement. J. Maloň was the new captain of Supersonics - handed the armband by the departing player. The Supersonics players could smell victory in the air. A. Atzamopoulos wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for R. Šohaj after 82 minutes. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Supersonics lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. After 85 minutes, FCV switched S. Bica with H. Berger, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. G. de Liever was handed the FCV captain's armband. The home keeper was stunned 87 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by I. Šilhán and dived in the wrong direction. The visitors increased the lead to 1 - 5. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Supersonics, with 54 percent of the ball.

Most important FCV player was M. Mayer. On the other hand, H. Berger's play was disheartening. Supersonics's best player was R. Oršulík. However, R. Šohaj made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 5.
