Turerne 2 - 3 Middledevils (393045737)

Dark skies made the crowd of 59528 at Old Turmat a little nervous, but the rain held off. Jaroslav Hrádel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gustau Madariaga and Georges Weisshaar. A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Turerne. Lineup: Putkonen - Gripenhall, 尔松 (Ersong) , Dadunaschwili - Buan, Maranzoni, Emaldi, Heintzschel - Bradwell, Mazzullo, D'ath.

Middledevils started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Starters: Jacobsen - Toikander, Hansen, Ingesson - Datković, Haugnes, Filtenborg, Turjeman, Ibrahim - Chiliman, Delacourt.

Turerne clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. M. Buan of Turerne received a yellow card after 32 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Down the middle came C. Chiliman, making a fantastic play that nearly had Middledevils take the lead after 39 minutes, but R. Putkonen preserved the tie. 42 minutes into the game, M. Buan had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came L. Kristensen. 43 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but J. Toikander, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. 44 minutes in, the referee awarded Turerne a penalty. 洪. 尔松 (Ersong) coolly slotted it home for a 1 - 0 lead. R. Bradwell had a fantastic opportunity to put Turerne up another goal 44 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Middledevils, with 55 percent of the ball.

Things were deteriorating for the away team as Turerne scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for A. D'ath after 60 minutes. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Turerne lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. 62 minutes in, J. Toikander made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but R. Putkonen refused to let the ball slip by him. After 65 minutes Middledevils's P. Ingesson limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. The visitors got one back when C. Chiliman finished off a pass from the left and scored after 71 minutes. 2 - 1 was the score. The visitors refused to give in and, after 77 minutes, C. Chiliman evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 2 - 2 As the match clock reached 78 minutes, Turerne's organisation began to suffer due to a lack of experience. R. Putkonen looked great 79 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' Å. Hansen. Middledevils enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

As neither team was able to break the deadlock before the end of regular play, the teams took to the field again for extra time. The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Turerne had solid organisation. One of many good crosses from T. Ibrahim on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by A. Delacourt, who scored for Middledevils. 2 - 3 What a dramatic win for Middledevils! Turerne's top performer was clearly A. D'ath. L. Kristensen was a disappointment, however. Middledevils's best player was F. Haugnes. H. Jacobsen on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 3.
