Zeus 3 - 2 GIRONDINS (393071418)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 1621 that came out to Olymp. Fabrice Drault was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Adolfo Valencia and Leo Larsson. Zeus were relying on their ability to counter-attack. GIRONDINS clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. It might be a while before the fans see Zeus's E. Hametner again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 6 minute mark. He was replaced by D. Heydwolff. Zeus broke through on the left 16 minutes into the game, with N. Uboldi firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. With 20 minutes played, M. Ošťádal of GIRONDINS fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. K. Faeh increased the lead for Zeus to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Zeus solidified their lead at the 36 minute mark, as M. Gažik dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0. After this, you could see that the players of Zeus were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. M. Gažik should probably have put his team up another goal after 40 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by J. Nedorost kept the visitors in the game. Halftime score was 3 - 0. Zeus claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

GIRONDINS's M. Ošťádal was able to reply, after 48 minutes, making the score 3 - 1 with a well struck penalty. B. Dusen left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 50 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. M. Wiederkehr was the replacement. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Zeus coach let H. Reger replace M. Dobmann after 60 minutes. GIRONDINS reduced the deficit to 3 - 2 with a penalty placed perfectly beside the left post by M. Ošťádal. T. von Buchwaldt enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again. Possession in this half belonged to Zeus, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

Most important Zeus player was J. Gamelin. D. Heydwolff was a disappointment, however. GIRONDINS's best player was T. von Buchwaldt. F. Étchegaray turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
