bataklan 1 - 2 Warta (393100437)

811 punters turned up at Olímpico de stgo, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Victor Battle was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Onildo Vaquinhas and Tony Thorhult. bataklan had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Ben-Harush - Tuñon, Melassi, Sobrino, Tazbaz - Colli, Düring, Fuster López, Mahuzier - Montilles, Bascuñán.

Warta decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. Lineup: Masny - Dedić, Rędziak, Kim, Kostrzewa - Habashneh, Pacuda, Łubnicki, Starzyk, Blazhevich - Perovič.

It was an obvious ambition of bataklan to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. The wings were the focus of most of Warta's attacks today. With the clock showing 4 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of bataklan resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by F. Montilles in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. It was obvious that Warta had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. The guests almost went up by a goal after 23 minutes when R. Pacuda came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. 26 minutes in, Warta's K. Rędziak received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Halftime score was 0 - 0. Warta claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Warta's A. Habashneh somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for G. Perovič, who struck for 0 - 1. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 60 minutes played, J. Tuñon of bataklan made the score 1 - 1. The most controversial moment of the game was likely the penalty given after 64 minutes. Warta's K. Rędziak kept his concentration, despite the upset crowd, and calmly put the ball past the keeper to make the score 1 - 2. After the ball was lifted in from the left, G. Perovič was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 72 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. Possession in this half belonged to Warta, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.

Most important bataklan player was R. Bascuñán. However, J. Colli made a disastrous appearance. Warta's top performer was clearly G. Perovič. D. Dedić on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 2.
