previous 7/10 next 9/10  Torico 5 - 4 Ganshoren (393108973)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 1230 at Juan Diego de Marcilla today. Umberto Di Simone was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Szymon Stachowiak and Danilo Evaristo Villa. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Torico. They fielded: Albrecht - Esparteiro, Errazuriz - Tria, Elejalde, Oliveros, Feloaga, Pinedo Acevedo - Obregón, Téllez, Martin.

Ganshoren had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. The following players took the field: Kleibergen - Reverchon, Mazur - Royaux, Kuusma, Demarcke, Theys, Paquet - Buller, Dioukhane, Kovalenko.

Torico were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. V. Pinedo Acevedo made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle 21 minutes into the match. P. Obregón bravely attempted to execute a diving header and the ball was met firmly with his forehead for Torico. 1 - 0. The visitors' B. Buller was alert after a cross coming in from the left, levelling the score at 1 - 1 after 22 minutes. After 28 minutes, Ganshoren put themselves up 1 - 2, as B. Buller finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 35 minutes into the match, an alert M. Martin bagged the ball for Torico, levelling the score to 2 - 2. Ganshoren took the lead 37 minutes into the game, making the score 2 - 3 after some elegant movement down the middle. C. Demarcke was the scorer. Torico's A. Oliveros put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 3 - 3 with 37 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. 42 minutes into the game, Ganshoren seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. The referee showed Ganshoren's B. Buller the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Making his way up the middle 44 minutes into the match, J. Téllez almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert C. Kleibergen blocked it to keep the score level. It was 3 - 3 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Ganshoren, with 54 percent of the ball.

The Ganshoren players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 65 minutes allowed Y. Dioukhane to score for Ganshoren. The scoreboard now read 3 - 4. After 71 minutes Torico's M. Martin limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Torico put pressure on the visitors' central defence 72 minutes into the game, but X. Feloaga couldn't find an opening. 77 minutes into the game, Ganshoren had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to inadequate. Torico were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. Torico's M. Martin made an attempt at equalising 81 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. J. Téllez showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 85 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 4 - 4 equaliser away. Torico had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

As neither team was able to break the deadlock before the end of regular play, the teams took to the field again for extra time. Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Ganshoren was able to get his message across, and raised Ganshoren's organisation to solid. 94 minutes into the game, Y. Dioukhane had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. After 96 minutes of play, G. Elejalde gave the home team a 5 - 4 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Extra time over, Torico were the victors! Torico's top performer was clearly G. Elejalde. However, P. Albrecht made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Ganshoren player was without a doubt M. Kovalenko. W. Mazur was a disappointment, however. The match ends 5 - 4.
