previous 10/10 next 2/10  Jeri 0 - 4 exCeltic (393114173)

The crowd of 2801 turning up at Stadium Jeri FC today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Paris Wolfisberg was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kurt Hildebrandt and Stefano Romani. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Jeri. Starters: Mohd Rusydi - Chao Leong, Sundberg, Junaidi, Choon Yong - Huat Kang, Ahmad, Helmy Zakariyya, Abdul Raziq - Taha Dawood, Azib.

exCeltic decided to use a 5-2-3 set up. The following players had been chosen: Hupin - Prud Homme, Batard, Martin, Maillard, Grimaud - Costa, Bernard - Meynadier, Tanchon, Laudet.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of exCeltic. Jeri made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left F. Junaidi completely alone with keeper T. Hupin, who made a spectacular block. I. Helmy Zakariyya's lack of experience almost gave exCeltic a goal after 25 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. J. Tanchon came close to putting the visiting team one up 32 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but F. Mohd Rusydi managed to tip the ball to a corner. It was a bad day for the usually speedy A. Meynadier. The mud seemed to slow him down. After 39 minutes, exCeltic put themselves up 0 - 1, as J. Tanchon finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. 40 minutes in, Jeri's N. Choon Yong received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Jeri enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.

Some fine movement on the left led to a exCeltic goal after 55 minutes, making it 0 - 2. A. Meynadier was noted down as the scorer. After this, you could see that the players of exCeltic were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. exCeltic showed their counterattack skill 58 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with S. Laudet scoring uncontested for 0 - 3. The coach of exCeltic was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 65 minutes, O. Mantanne came on for J. Tanchon. 81 minutes into the match, S. Laudet came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. After 83 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed O. Mantanne to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Jeri, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

Most important Jeri player was S. Azib. On the other hand, L. Ahmad's play was disheartening. exCeltic's top performer was clearly W. Bernard. However, F. Prud Homme made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 4.
