previous 7/10 next 9/10  Truenos 2 - 0 SteFra (393118782)

Dark skies made the crowd of 2221 at Los Truenos Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Jaakko Loven was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Michelangelo Santagostino and Damián Alejandro Llanos. A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Truenos. The following players had been chosen: García Arrafán - Meerscheidt-Hüllessem, Verwoert, Dockers, Taton, Wicha - Peixoto, Walotka, Kuzgun - Moitzi, Todorov.

SteFra tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Starters: Moreno - Moreira, Cerulli, Fiorile, Fusé - Favero, Dolente, Boyd, Kankainen - Chwał, Campigli.

Truenos immediately set off using their skill at pressing their opponents. SteFra took a creative approach on the field. Making his way up the middle 18 minutes into the match, J. Peixoto almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert R. Moreno blocked it to keep the score level. Truenos's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. Truenos were very close to putting themselves one up after 24 minutes as L. Kuzgun got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. With 31 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, G. Moreira needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. Halftime score was 0 - 0. Truenos had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.

The pressing tactics used by Truenos were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. Slack defending gave Truenos a chance to take the lead with 55 minutes played, but J. Peixoto's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. Truenos created a good opportunity to score 56 minutes into the match when T. Moitzi's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Truenos pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. J. Dockers sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from R. Verwoert after 68 minutes of play, making the score 1 - 0. With 77 minutes played, Truenos's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to G. Wicha he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 2 - 0. J. Peixoto of Truenos was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Truenos enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

Most important Truenos player was T. Moitzi. On the other hand, V. García Arrafán's play was disheartening. The most dominating SteFra player was without a doubt A. Campigli. However, G. Moreira made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 0.
