previous 4/10 next 6/10  Bel 14 6 - 2 Vincenti (393141343)

The 1389 spectators at Galaxy Stadion were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Pascal Jambou was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Raffaele Nuccio and Daniel Matos. Bel 14 tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Beenkens - Demoulin, Cappuyns, Casula - Samson, Gossiaux, Cheron, Schokkaert, Hauke - De Mel, Hayen.

Vincenti started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Carme - Droogmans, Fazekas, Cugnu - Glós, Eugui, Nesim, Gajdůšek, Cassan - Egas, Larsson.

Bel 14 seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Bel 14 took the lead 7 minutes into the match after a magnificent free kick by J. Hauke that made the score 1 - 0. The visitors didn't give in and, after 17 minutes, T. Larsson got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 1 - 1. 20 minutes in, the referee awarded Bel 14 a penalty. J. Hauke coolly slotted it home for a 2 - 1 lead. Vincenti were close to putting the equaliser away after 25 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to T. Egas in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line. Halftime score was 2 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Bel 14, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

The crowd was silenced 47 minutes into the match as the visiting team's B. Glós came in from the left, levelling the score to 2 - 2. M. Cappuyns would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. D. Kennis entered the game for Bel 14 as the match clock showed 48 minutes. As the 50 minute mark approached, the Bel 14 coach decided it was time for a substitution. B. Schokkaert reluctantly made way for V. Verbeeck on the pitch. 52 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Bel 14 substitution. H. Reppenholt came on for A. Hayen. J. Fazekas found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when T. Egas slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against J. Beenkens, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. Bel 14 showed their counterattack skill 65 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with H. Reppenholt scoring uncontested for 3 - 2. Bel 14's G. Gossiaux was shown a yellow card after 72 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The score became 4 - 2 at 76 minutes into the game, when Bel 14 were given a penalty which J. Hauke blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance! That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for J. Hauke. Cheers filled the stadium as V. Verbeeck broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 2 to Bel 14. Confident in their lead, Bel 14's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. J. Cassan managed to make an excellent pass from the flank, but B. Glós was not as skillfull in scoring. Bel 14's H. Reppenholt saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 86 minutes. Given a free kick close to the byline, Bel 14 tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let G. Gossiaux slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 6 - 2, 87 minutes into the game. 88 minutes in, Bel 14's V. Verbeeck received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. J. Gajdůšek of Vincenti had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. J. Astrup came in to finish the match. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Bel 14, with 52 percent of the ball.

Bel 14's best player was G. Casula. G. Gossiaux turned in a dismal performance, however. Vincenti's top performer was clearly T. Nesim. P. Cugnu was a disappointment, however. The match ends 6 - 2.
