(393148830)

10-07-2012 19.15
Due to an all-day shower, 2175 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
"GERMANO MOSCONI ARENA".
Zacharie Garnier was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Danny Doohan and
Darren Formosa.
MOSCONI tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Babo - Golinelli, Dobigny, Helmboldt, Vernière, Fablet - Conte, Kulesza, Dekkers - Haber, Bransfield.
blete had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Tugnella - Prod’Homme, Passarella, Bunbury - Tévez, Forti, Barberis, Barresi, Martina - Tevez, Defeudi.
For their match strategy, MOSCONI had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but
É. Prod’Homme showed great heart and had a good game.
After 10 minutes, blete put themselves up 0 - 1, as
N. Martina finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like
M. Forti.
A. Dekkers was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a MOSCONI counterattack from the left after 36 minutes. His neat finish made the score 1 - 1.
The guests took the lead 43 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
N. Barberis scoring to make it 1 - 2.
The home crowd cheered when, after 44 minutes,
J. Passarella's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
1 - 2 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by blete, with 62 percent of the ball.
With 46 minutes played, the MOSCONI coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
D. Dominić came on,
L. Helmboldt had to leave the fray.
M. Forti was, after 49 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
P. Babo made the save.
MOSCONI needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 50 minutes
J. Vernière made way for
A. Ekster.
G. Barresi received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 59 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 3. The blete fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
N. Martina of blete was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
After 70 minutes, MOSCONI switched
A. Dekkers with
B. Karch, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
With 70 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
N. Martina of blete to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 4.
blete increased their lead after 72 minutes when
P. Defeudi broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 5, much to the home crowd's dismay.
By now, the players in blete felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
76 minutes into the game, MOSCONI had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
solid.
blete claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
B. Karch performed admirably for MOSCONI.
However,
P. Babo made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating blete player was without a doubt
M. Forti.
R. Bunbury turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 5.
