previous 6/10 next 8/10  CI 4 - 1 Wilhelm (393167956)

Due to an all-day shower, 1984 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at The Temple Of Bazas. Tore Lundstrand was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Finn Riedemann and Gerard Proveniers. CI started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Tordesillas - Van Rompaey, Cosca, Hoşkadem - Waasdorp, Arreche, Mihai, Belmonte, Hucke - Johansen, Corsavi.

Wilhelm had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Kõre - Fanderl, Eriksson, Beutels - Lupal, Schafroth, Eriksson, Eklund, Benavidez - Sotillo, Bernstedt.

2 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for CI was T. Hoşkadem. R. Fanderl spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch. M. Waasdorp's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert C. Hucke was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for CI. 2 - 0. The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit J. Bernstedt just fine. After 39 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and J. Arreche gave the CI supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. CI enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

With 60 minutes played, CI put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to J. Arreche, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. After this, you could see that the players of CI were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. The visitors got one back when N. Schafroth finished off a pass from the left and scored after 71 minutes. 4 - 1 was the score. K. Lupal had a couple of good opportunities to reply, but the home team's keeper R. Tordesillas was simply unbeatable. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Wilhelm, with 54 percent of the ball.

J. Johansen performed admirably for CI. However, T. Van Rompaey made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Wilhelm player was without a doubt N. Schafroth. R. Fanderl was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 1.
