Edd's 5 - 0 Zak
(393191839)

10-07-2012 19.30
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 324 to
Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Jonathan MacTier was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Thor Hermansen and
Valerio Díaz-Guerra.
Edd's tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Brajczewski - Daum, Sielert, Dukič - Covaci, Škofič, Borselli, Pečkaj, Biglino - Grizold, Hehanusa.
Zak had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation.
Starters: Kostanjevec - Elwood, Gehrling, Pakiž, Buijsman, Hellendoorn - Fortun, Anzelin, Kodrič, Novak - Mozetič.
Edd's fans held their breath as
R. Hehanusa scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
M. Borselli behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 18 minutes as he gave the ball away to
E. Kodrič. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
With 28 minutes played,
R. Hehanusa could have brought this one home for Edd's as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
R. Hehanusa earned a rousing chorus of cheers from his fans as he seemed to come out of nowhere after 30 minutes to intercept the ball and put it in the back of the net for Edd's. 2 - 0.
By now, the players in Edd's felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Edd's managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
A. Sielert cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 39 minute mark, Edd's's
A. Škofič hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
3 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Edd's claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.
73 minutes into the game Zak managed a counterattack, but
Z. Pakiž took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper.
After 79 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
V. Grizold might have resulted in another goal for Edd's. However,
L. Kostanjevec made a spectacular save.
Edd's solidified their lead at the 83 minute mark, as
V. Grizold dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 0.
Zak certainly deserved a goal after some stunning play down the left, but
A. Anzelin just wasn't able to finish.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Edd's scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
A. Sielert after 89 minutes.
Edd's enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.
Edd's's best player was
V. Grizold.
On the other hand,
M. Brajczewski's play was disheartening.
Most important Zak player was
E. Kodrič.
However,
F. Hellendoorn made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 5 - 0.
