Schelstraete's lack of experience almost gave orion a goal after 24 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. orion took the lead 26 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. A. Alburak was the scorer. Varasova put pressure on the visitors' central defence 29 minutes into the game, but D. Zanellati couldn't find an opening. orion's T. Naukkarinen got himself booked for a foul. After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 37 minutes into the match, an alert L. Mozzoni bagged the ball for Varasova, levelling the score to 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Varasova enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.

After a fine move down the middle D. Zanellati nearly gave the home side a goal after 66 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. After 67 minutes orion's E. Dunjó limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. They were singing the praises of G. Bassi 70 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 2 - 1 to Varasova. After 73 minutes, orion sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached J. Ybarra, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 2 - 2. A. Alburak was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, orion's E. Dunjó managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 2 - 3 After 79 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed R. Merz to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 2 - 4. Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.

Varasova's top performer was clearly G. Bassi. S. Veerlann on the other hand, had a terrible day. orion's best player was R. Merz. However, B. Bedié made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 4.
