previous 1/10 next 3/10  C. Tsubasa 1 - 7 Akihabara (393216527)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 38000 to キャプテン翼スタジアム. Niklas Drewik was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Franklin Huf and Zsolt Kökény. C. Tsubasa had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players took the field: Xhufi - Moreland, Garardi, Dubourg - Rosenberger, Martins Duarte, Mathiasson, Kusal - 阿部 (Abe ), Drumlak, 松木 (Matsuki).

Akihabara decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. Lineup: Batebi - Kitano, Kupari - Isayama, Komatsu, Apelgård, Kwakami, Agrafoxo - Raciti, Mizushima, Lemmenmeier.

After 17 minutes, Akihabara's J. Lemmenmeier made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. J. Moreland showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 21 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. The corner kick from A. Kupari was powerfully met by the head of A. Agrafoxo to make the score 1 - 2. C. Tsubasa's M. Martins Duarte made a successful breakthrough on the left after 26 minutes and should have levelled the score, but instead he clipped it over the bar. After 32 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for A. Agrafoxo who increased Akihabara's lead to 1 - 3. T. Komatsu was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a Akihabara counterattack from the left after 34 minutes. His neat finish made the score 1 - 4. 1 - 4 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Akihabara, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

J. Moreland did everything he could to get one back for his C. Tsubasa, but keeper A. Batebi denied him with a spectacular block. Always a threat, R. Raciti tore past his marker and placed the ball right at the feet of the waiting K. Mizushima who should have easily scored for Akihabara, but the ball went wide. After 59 minutes, Akihabara's R. Raciti burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 5. K. Mizushima received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 60 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 6. The Akihabara fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. After a short break after 66 minutes, Akihabara seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. The Akihabara coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 66 minutes into the game. The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as M. Martins Duarte tried lifting the ball over keeper A. Batebi. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar. As T. Mathiasson had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the C. Tsubasa player a red card without batting an eyelid. The C. Tsubasa captaincy was handed to J. Kusal. After 82 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave T. Komatsu a chance to increase the lead for Akihabara, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 7. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Akihabara lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Against a lesser team, Akihabara could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 86 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Akihabara coach let M. Kutsiy replace K. Kitano after 89 minutes. Akihabara enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.

The most dominating C. Tsubasa player was without a doubt 友. 松木 (Matsuki). P. Xhufi on the other hand, had a terrible day. Akihabara's best player was T. Komatsu. However, M. Kutsiy made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 7.
