Rufus Nova Logic Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Siro De Dionigi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Olivier Desmarais and
Derya Okar.
Rufus had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
Lineup: Suciu - Aldea, Disciullo, Bujor, Palágyi, Tela - Găianu, Basarab, Pricopie - Horj, Bălulescu.
Didi tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Lattmann - Gualano, Rita, Gabilondo, Ticozzi - Zipoli, Khoeun, Diels, Gibert - Fasquel, Roberto.
Didi clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
The visitors were very close to gaining the lead with a marvellous free kick after 23 minutes, but
M. Suciu made a beautiful one-handed save.
Down the middle came
G. Roberto, making a fantastic play that nearly had Didi take the lead after 27 minutes, but
M. Suciu preserved the tie.
0 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Didi claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.
Priding himself in being an active coach, the Didi manager gave new instructions to his players after 50 minutes.
The coach of Didi wanted to try to change things around after 50 minutes, and gave new tactical instructions.
60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Didi substitution.
A. Kosiba came on for
N. Rita.
Rufus's
L. Basarab left the field after 66 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
H. Alli.
As the 68 minute mark approached, the Didi coach decided it was time for a substitution.
C. Khoeun reluctantly made way for
D. Bobârcă on the pitch.
After 69 minutes, Didi sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
G. Roberto, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 1.
The Didi players could smell victory in the air.
R. Fasquel wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
R. Remkes after 70 minutes.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
G. Diels. At last, Didi's
D. Bobârcă was able to backheel the ball in. 0 - 2.
Didi were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
E. Gualano received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 85 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The Didi fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
With 85 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
G. Roberto of Didi to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 4.
R. Remkes of Didi was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish
J. Disciullo, which resulted in a goal making the score 0 - 5.
Confident in their lead, Didi's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Didi enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.
S. Tela performed admirably for Rufus.
N. Bălulescu on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Didi's top performer was clearly
A. Kosiba.
However,
S. Gibert made a disastrous appearance.
