Clouds darkened the skies at Şahlanlar sportland as 47877 spectators turned up for the match. Sebastian Botor was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Juha-Pekka Rousu and Paul Chopart. The guests took the lead 16 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in J. Meeuwis scoring to make it 0 - 1. A foul 21 minutes into the game resulted in a free kick for Yıldızspor. V. Castionetti took advantage as he curled the equalising goal into the top corner, just out of the reach of the keeper. 1 - 1. Yıldızspor's C. Zardoni tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Against a lesser team, Yıldızspor could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 26 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Yıldızspor, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to C. Zardoni, but the Yıldızspor player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! With 67 minutes played, M. Amiri of Boyabat fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. With 70 minutes played, the Boyabat coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. J. Madsen came on, J. Meeuwis had to leave the fray. H. Tola behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 76 minutes as he gave the ball away to V. Castionetti. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Yıldızspor's C. Zardoni saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 79 minutes. The visitors didn't give in and, after 80 minutes, N. Poranen got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 2 - 2. Boyabat took the lead after 81 minutes making the score 2 - 3. A. Altermatt placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. The Yıldızspor coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. The Yıldızspor players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Yıldızspor manager used a brief break in play after 82 minutes to give the players new directives. As the game started to slip away for Yıldızspor, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. Boyabat had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

C. Zardoni performed admirably for Yıldızspor. L. Edwards turned in a dismal performance, however. Boyabat's top performer was clearly A. Altermatt. H. Sunaltan on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 3.
