Clear skies welcomed the 1578 spectators who had made their way to
Mediterrani Arena.
Mario Alberto Ruiz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Yonathan Heijster and
Georg Linse.
usilroz started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
Lineup: Coupe - Solem, Mejías, Iñiguez - Rubio de Barrio, Gato, Egbo, Månling - Coyro, Eduegui, Cervello.
FJS tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
Starters: Oliva - Herrero, Tudor, Brodtitz - Antelo, Cunchillos, Negreiros, Dach - Gesualdi, Ritter, Herrementeria.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 15 minutes into the match left FJS's
M. Antelo completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
With 23 minutes played, FJS put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
G. Gesualdi.
The players of FJS now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
The visitors'
G. Gesualdi took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 31 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for FJS.
After 36 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
L. Cunchillos who increased FJS's lead to 0 - 4.
0 - 4 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to FJS, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.
With 60 minutes played, the usilroz coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
L. Guilheiro came on,
B. Egbo had to leave the fray.
With the scoreboard showing that 67 minutes had been played, FJS nearly put themselves up another goal after
P. Ritter came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save.
The referee showed FJS's
P. Ritter the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
K. Brodtitz received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 69 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The FJS fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, usilroz's
A. Solem was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes.
A. Wieser was given a chance to change things around.
The crowd gasped as
E. Oliva of FJS was flattened by an opponent after 70 minutes and had to be carried off.
P. Arnau came in off the bench.
FJS's
M. Dach made use of his speed to get free of the defence, but he still couldn't get a shot off 74 minutes into the match.
At 79 minutes into the game, usilroz's
R. Eduegui deftly knocked the ball home after an impressive run down the left, reducing the visitors' lead to 1 - 5.
After 80 minutes, usilroz switched
J. Månling with
E. Patrício, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
G. Gesualdi from FJS a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 80 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
A well placed corner kick from
G. Gesualdi was followed by
P. Ritter's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for FJS, the score now 1 - 6.
84 minutes into the game, FJS had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
weak.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
P. Ritter. At last, FJS's
L. Cunchillos was able to backheel the ball in. 1 - 7.
E. Coyro of usilroz was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
L. Negreiros was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 88 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
The home crowd were delighted when
E. Coyro scored with a header after an attack from the right, making the score 2 - 7. But did he use his hand? That'll be one for the pundits to talk about after the game, that's for sure!
Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.
R. Eduegui performed admirably for usilroz.
However,
L. Gato made a disastrous appearance.
FJS's top performer was clearly
G. Gesualdi.
P. Arnau turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 2 - 7.
