Clouds darkened the skies at
Sporting 77 Arena as 49996 spectators turned up for the match.
Petrus Sierens was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jonas Amundsen and
Waldemar Willing.
Sporting had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
The following players took the field: Botilla - Jiménez, Castro, Sáenz Rodríguez - Camazón, Carres, Oroña, Zufiria - Domezain, Bové, Cabañero Martínez.
A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Danitrax.
Lineup: Milonga - Mòdol, Schwerzmann, Vara del Rey, Ardeleanu, Mangione - Láiz, Kalyesubula, Galan - Peñaranda, Cuiña.
Sporting tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
Sporting created a good opportunity to score 7 minutes into the match when
T. Sáenz Rodríguez's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
After 8 minutes, Danitrax's
L. Peñaranda swiftly ran past
R. Carres and nutmegged the keeper! 0 - 1.
The crowd roared in delight as
U. Camazón finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for Sporting 12 minutes into the match. 1 - 1.
Sporting took the lead after 29 minutes as a result of
F. Cabañero Martínez's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1.
43 minutes into the match,
I. Kalyesubula bent a free kick around the home team's defensive formation, leaving the keeper with no chance for a save. Danitrax had levelled the scoreline at 2 - 2.
Halftime score was 2 - 2.
Danitrax had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.
After 61 minutes, Danitrax's
L. Peñaranda made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 2 - 3.
T. Mangione neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to
I. Ardeleanu who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Sporting, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
Sporting's
P. Jiménez was shown a yellow card after 86 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Danitrax, with 54 percent of the ball.
E. Bové performed admirably for Sporting.
F. Cabañero Martínez was a disappointment, however.
Danitrax's top performer was clearly
A. Láiz.
However,
T. Mangione made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 3.
